Itinerary
Thursday: September 23 - Charleston, West Virginia - Oak Hill,
WV We will be picked up at 10:00 a.m. from the Hampton Inn (pre-trip hotel) and transfered to
the New River Gorge in Oak Hill, WV. Time for lunch and to check in to our hotel before we start our 3:00pm Scenic
Gorge Horseback Ride.
There is no better way to begin our adventure weekend then on a Guided Horseback Riding
Trip in West Virginia. New River Gorge National River provides a variety of different forest trails and superb
overlooks and our trail guide will lead us through a myriad of scenic gorge trails on our 2 1/2 hour horseback
riding trip.
We will stop and stretch our legs while enjoying the panoramic views from the top...
because our next days adventures will find us rafting through the rapids at the bottom of the New River Gorge.
Friday: September 24 - Full Day - Whitewater Rafting -
Lower Gauley
The New River Gorge National River is known as the "Grand Canyon of the East". It is a
place of wonder where natural beauty and rich cultural history are waiting to be discovered. And the whitewater is
fantastic! The river flows are unpredictable. Keeping tabs on the weather and river levels,
adjustments are constantly made to catch the best ride out there. From low to high, it’s a good ride whether you’re
in a raft on the Upper or Lower River.
The Lower Gauley offers 14 miles of Class III-V whitewater in one
of West Virginia's most spectacular canyons. The Lower Gauley is a great prelude to the Upper Gauley, offering
exciting whitewater adventure for both beginners and experts alike. You will experience the biggest rapids the
Lower Gauley has to offer such as Koontz's, Flume, Canyon Doors, Mash and Pure Screaming Hell, just to name a few.
The scenery is magnificent and action is non-stop except for lunch which is served by our guides on the river's
edge.
Saturday: September 25 - Full Day - Whitewater Rafting -
Upper Gauley
The Upper Gauley is simply the best 1-day whitewater rafting trip in America! No other river
has the Gauley’s unique combination of high volume and tight technical rapids. It’s powerful, relentless, and
sometimes…more fun than you can imagine! With near non-stop action and over 50 rapids…including no fewer than SIX
Class V+ monsters…there’s nothing like the Upper Gauley anywhere in the country. Our trip begins at the base of
Summersville Dam and runs 12 miles of almost continuous rapids. Rapids with names like Lost Paddle, Pillow Rock,
Iron Ring, Insignificant, and the incomparable Sweets Falls are truly the stuff of legend. You’ll soon see why
people come from literally around the world to paddle the Gauley.
Enjoy a Farewell Dinner buffet at our River Runners
headquarters.
Sunday: September 26 - Oak Hill - Charleston, WV This morning you
will be transferred to the Charleston, West Virginia Airport for our journey home and the end of our Adventure
singles weekend.

White Water Rafting FAQ
Do I need any Rafting Experience?
Prior rafting experience is not required. The majority of
people who join our expeditions are first time rafters. You'll receive a detailed safety talk
before getting on the river, and it will cover every aspect of your river adventure. Once trained,
an oar or paddle crew can work in harmony with their guide to maneuver a raft in the most
challenging rapids. It's only natural for you to be apprehensive about running rivers, however our
staff is specially trained to address your concerns and prepare you for an experience you'll never
forget. WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING AND WEAR?
You will be the most comfortable in things that dry quickly. If the weather is warm,
and that is most typical, dress to get wet. Swimsuits, shorts and T-shirts are fine. Appropriate
footwear is a must. Old pair of tennis shoes or the Teva-type sport sandals (the guides choice of
footwear) is best. Wool socks or no socks. If it is expected to be a cool day, rule number one is
COTTON IS WRONG! A wool sweater or fleece jacket is good to have along on any raft trip. Thet offer
a complete line of clean wetsuits, spray jackets and river boots in our office for a nominal rental
fee. Again, expect to get wet!
Do Trips Run If It's Raining?
All trips run rain or shine.
Only rarely do we cancel due to high water. In the unlikely event that we cancel a trip, a full
refund will be offered. Any person choosing not to participate because of weather will not be
eligible for a refund or rain check.
Do I Have To Know How To Swim?
No! Every person on the trip will be issued a type V Personal Flotation Device better
known as a life jacket. These devices are designed to float your head above the surface of the
water even if you do not know how to swim.
