Machu Picchu, rediscovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham, is a fortress city of
the ancient Incas. The ruins are one of Cusco was a Holy City, place of pilgrimage, a sacred place the Incas themselves believed was “The Navel of World”, thus its real name “Qosqo”. If you haven't meet everyone already, tonight is your opportunity. Get ready to enjoy a dinner in a typical restaurant with a folklore show where the musicians play their melodies with Andean instruments of beautiful sounds while typically dressed dancers will show you different ancient Peruvian dances. (B,D) Day 3 - Sunday: Cusco Day 4 - Monday: Cusco - Excursion to the
"Sacred Valley of the Incas" In the afternoon we pass through Calca and Urubamba towns to arrive at the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo. Built to guard the valley entrance and protect it from enemies of the lower jungles it consists of a series of superimposed terraces of carved stones accessed by long staircases. Walk through the quaint streets of the nearby town, a religious and agricultural center during the Inca Empire. Visit the picturesque Andean village of Chinchero where the remains of the royal hacienda of Tupac Inca Yupanqui lies. Admire the well preserved Inca wall at the Main Square, visit the beautiful colonial temple built on Inca foundations. Return to Cusco in the late afternoon. (B,L) Day 5 - Tuesday: Cusco - Maras Moray The site at Moray is made up of enormous circular terraces which were possibly used to
study the effects of different climatic conditions on the crops. The depth of the holes (the largest is
100 feet deep) create a variation of temperatures of 39º between the top and bottom levels. As in other
Inka sites, it also has a sophisticated irrigation system which Next visit the salt pans. Since pre-Inka times, salt has been obtained at Maras as the
salt water (from a sub-terranean current nearby) evaporates in the sun, leaving just the salt as a
result. In the mines there are thousands of salt pools and when the light is reflected off them, the
atmosphere is calm and impressive. After our three 1/2 hour train journey have lunch in Agias Calientes
before we drive up the mountain to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as "The Lost City of the
Incas". Upon arrival our guided tour begins, visiting the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial
(Intiwatana), the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds. After the tour
you will have time to stroll around the archaeological site. Then it is back to Agias Calientes for an evening
at leisure. (B,L) Day 7 - Thursday: Machu Picchu: Aguas Calientes -
Cusco 1. Visit the Citadel of Machu Picchu for a second time. In the afternoon, back to Cusco by train and our hotel. Evening free. We recommend to dine at the hotel and have an early night (B) Day 8 - Frday: Cusco - Whitewater Rafting After a brief period practicing on the flatter parts of the river, we will begin our rafting experience, passing down to Ollantaytambo and its Inca terraces and through rapids of class II and III finishing with “El Resbaladero” (the slippery one) which is a strong CLASS III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools. In the take out, you will dry off and change clothes, and enjoy a picnic lunch at the side of the river. (Toilet facilities are available). Return to your hotel. Day 9 - Satuday: Cusco / Lima  textiles from Paracas, Nazca and Mochica ceramics and Chimu
metalwork; as well as paintings, documents and objects relating to prominent people of Peru's Conquest,
Vice Royalty and Republic times.After all that sightseeing let's sit back and enjoy a folklore show and dinner at a local Peruvian restaurant at our Farewell Dinner.. Day 10 - Sunday: Lima / Home or

Day 1 - Sunday: Lima / Ica
Enjoy the local scenery on your morning bus (4 hours) to Ica. Upon arrival check into your hotel and then
it is off to the airport for a 45-minute flight over the enigmatic Nazca Lines. These enormous lineal
drawings of animals, birds and geometric figures, remain etched in the desert and can only be appreciated

Day 2 - Monday: Ica / Huacachina
After breakfast we will drive across Ica’s desert in a 4x4 buggy vehicle, and make  various stops along the way for photos of stunning landscapes, not
only of sand dunes, but also of the Huacachina lagoon. Experience the exhilaration of one of the most
popular sports in Ica, “Sandboarding”. Our driver will take us to the summit of some dunes, from where
you will be able to slide down. Before we start to sand surf, our guide will teach us specific
techniques to ensure a safe ride.
After lunch, we drive to the flat farmlands outside of Ica to see where the
grapes grow, are harvested and converted into liquid. Learn about the fermentation and cooking process that
turns the liquid into wine or pisco. We will visit at least 2 bodegas; a small family-run artesanal bodega
and a large-scale industrial bodega. Both types of bodegas are different and worth seeing. Of course, at
the end of the tour you will be invited to try samples of wine or pisco and then given the chance to buy a

While the Inca people certainly used the Andean mountain top, erecting hundreds of stone structures in the
1400's, legends and myths indicate that Machu Picchu (meaning 'Old Peak' in the Quechua language) was revered
as a sacred place from a far earlier time. Whatever its origins, the Inca turned the site into a small but
extraordinary city. Invisible from below and completely self-contained, surrounded by agricultural terraces
sufficient to feed the population, and watered by natural springs, Machu Picchu seems to have been used by the
Inca as a secret ceremonial city. Two thousand feet above the Urubamba river, the cloud shrouded ruins have
palaces, baths, temples, storage rooms and about 150 houses, all in a remarkable state of
preservation.

the Inkas, known as Moray, a town famous for its large complex of unusual Inka ruins, located to the
north-east of Cuzco and close to the town of Maras.
