Our tour will take us along highway 1, designated an All-American Road, past rugged cliffs and through charming seaside villages such as Santa Cruz. We will stop at some of the most breathtaking look out points along the way.

We pass by the fertile fields of Salinas Valley, the artichoke capital of the world, and through Monterey to Cannery Row. Once in Monterey you will have time to have a wonderful fresh seafood lunch, visit the many shops in town along world famous Cannery Row made famous in John Steinbeck novels or perhaps visit the world class Monterey Bay Aquarium (admission extra).

Then drive by one of the oldest Spanish Missions in the country, and return to San Francisco on route 101, cruising past San Jose and Silicon Valley, the epicenter of high-tech industry.

Tonight we will explore and eat in San Francisco's China Town. Stepping through one of the gateways is like walking into a whole new world. The streets are lined with dragon-entwined lamp posts and calligraphy street signs. The shops are filled with food, herbs, porcelains, furniture, fabrics, and trinkets from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Embarcadero - Originally known as the Barbary Coast, the Downtown Waterfront District has a rich history that dates from the Gold Rush. From April to December 1849, more than 700 vessels steamed through the Golden Gate filled with fortune seekers hoping to strike it rich. Many of these ships were beached in their berths and converted to warehouses, offices and saloons, the first commercial enterprises near where Embarcadero Center now stands.
